HTC recruiting new Androids to serve on the Verizon Network

The Android rumor mill is in full swing today. I received a tip earlier this morning that Verizon Wireless and HTC has secret plans on introducing two new android powered handsets before the end of the year. Before I got the chance to put a story together, Boy Genius came mentioned a third Android phone on Verizon from HTC.

All we know for now is that three new Android phones have been named: HTC Passion, HTC Desire, and HTC Predator. All the rumors indicate that these three HTC devices will be making their way to the Verizon Network before the end of the year. One of them could even show up as early as October! I’ve checked with my tipster, but unfortunately there is no hard evidence he can share at this time to back up these claims. Fortunately for us, three new Android phones is actually a realistic target for HTC. The Dream, Magic, and Hero were all launched in a nine months time span. If HTC continues on the same release pace, we should have at least two new Android powered devices by the end of the year. So it’s not unrealistic that there could be a third one thrown in for good measure. At the moment HTC is the most experienced Android phone manufacturer. If they are really planning on using Android as a growth platform for the company, HTC will need to continue releasing Android phones every couple months in order to stave of f the growing competition from Motorola, Samsung, LG and SONY Ericsson.
