For those of you who missed it, the OHA added 14 new members to their list yesterday. Sorry if we didn’t post the story, but there was no significant HTC news in there. However, today’s news is much different. The largest player to be added to the OHA yesterday was our good friends over at SONY who today have announced their official plans to bring to market some higher end Android powered phones, eventually followed by handsets for the mass market. This past year, HTC and SONY have been working pretty close to bring the Xperia X1 to the masses. Could HTC’s experience with the G1 lead to another partnership between the two companies?
That’s not all. A seperate article indicated that HTC is planning on bringing one of more Android phones to the market by the summer of 2009. This would fall in line with HTC’s typical product launched in late May which we have seen over the past few years. As of right now, we can only hope that HTC brings some design innovation to the table since I’m sure we have all heard our fair share of complaints about the G1. I wouldn’t expect to see any of these devices show up at CES next month, but I’m sure there will be a lot of companies showing off their ideas of what their Android handsets may look like.
Thanks to Engadget for the news
