The Palm Treo Pro has a few features that don’t seem to match up with their most recent Windows Mobile device. An extremely familiar looking task manager and a flush display seem to remind many of HTC’s new design features on their Touch line of products. In the past, HTC manufactured the Palm Treo 650, just as they did for many other larger companies, but Inventec has stored most of the recent Palm contracts for their devices. This time, things have changed. DigiTimes report that HTC has taken back at least on ODM contract from them and is in fact the manufacturer behind the we Palm Treo Pro.
This comes as a surprise to many since HTC has been working hard on marketing their own branded products and would technically be considered a direct competitor to Palm. But I guess HTC’s expertise as being the largest Windows Mobile manufacturer on the globe outweighs any competitive feelings that Palm might have towards them. also, keep in mind the HTC is behind SONY new XPERIA X1 that will be launching in a few months.
