I’m sure some of you have been wondering why the site has been silent for so long. As I posted before I left, I recently took an 11 day trip to Tanzania. It was one of the most amazing trips I have ever been on. I have traveled most of the world, but Tanzania has secured a treasured spot in my heart.
For those interested about the trip, we traveled with a group of 16 to a small village called Mkoko. The village was so remote that we drove nearly 3 hours out from Dar es Salaam, took a turn down a durt road for 3 miles and then had to hike another 6 miles since the dirt road was so bad that the land cruisers loaded up with all our stuff had trouble getting in. While in the village we put on a soccer camp for the childern and adults (I think they were more excited about getting 4 soccer balls than the camp we put on since they were using rags tied up with bicycle inner tubes as balls) and we also had the opportunity to teach english in the village school. The one thing that simply amazed me though was the fact they they had no electricity, no runing water and yet there were two or three guys there that had cell phones. It made me laugh just thinkign that they had to ride a bike or hike out 9 miles a few times a week just to charge it.
I’m a bit of a picture mania so of course I got a lot of pictures of the tip. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.
