6 new Freestyle themes of the week

If you haven’t noticed by now, HTC is pushing for users to try Freestyle themes pretty hard. They want the community to embrace the stylish, creative layout for your homescreen. So I figured I’d play along by keeping up with new releases and passing them on. Remember, the freestyle layout is not perfect. In fact, I’ve tried to pursued HTC to implement a few changes early on and I’m still hoping they are reviewing those suggestions.

On to the themes added to the gallery this week by the HTC Creative account.

Flat Cats Freestyle Theme

Meow! Hand-drawn cats lounge and play throughout their paper-and-ink inspired domain. With a gray and maroon color scheme the theme is about as moody as one of the cats on the screen. With playful feline stickers and props you can create the pur-fect perch for your onscreen pets. This theme also comes complete with sounds, different backgrounds, and colorful app icons.

Evening Family Room Freestyle Theme

For the homebodies out there that want to make their homescreen feel a bit like… well, feel like home then try this theme out. With a dark bluish-gray background and color scheme you might be able to escape your day job and keep your mind at home. With this theme you can arrange picture frames on the wall and decorations on the shelf with your linkable stickers.

Old Glory Freestyle Theme

I’m currently rocking this hipster theme, but mainly for this sexy weather widget.

Old Glory Clock and Weather Widget

The rest of the theme was inspired by the vintage barbershop and the hipster lifestyle. Old Glory revives this time-honored tradition of gentleman in a contemporary setting.

Twilight and Wilderness Freestyle Theme

Nope. we’re not talking about the Twilight movies with this theme. It’s strictly wild life in the evening. As the sun goes down and the stars begin to emerge fireflies and creatures of the wilderness come out to frolic.

Retro Paper Dolls Freestyle Theme

This theme is a little too crazy for my taste, but it’s been downloaded about 1000 times over the past three days. Mix and match paper dolls with retro fashions and accessories. Even  though I don’t like to dress up dolls like these stickers offer the hideous wallpaper prevents me from downloading it to my phone.

Monuments to the Sky Freestyle Theme

Released right before this theme was going to be published this theme has already been downloaded 550 times. This creative theme is a tribute to architecture of the world. The description says, architecture reminds us that we can rise above our earthbound existence and touch the clouds. In this freestyle theme you can link skyscrapers to launch your favorite apps.

The freestyle layout is an awesome way to skin your phone, but opne of the biggest things I dislike and have tried to get HTC to change is that they take away the use of the Sense Home widget. My second complaint would be how time consuming it is to re-map shortcuts when you change freestyle themes.

If you can handle the quirks I’ve mentioned above then you should take one of the new layouts for a spin on your phone.
