The official launch day for the Vive is here! The hype is real people! Some have already received their order a day ahead of schedule and some of us (like this guy) are still waiting for our tracking number. While many of us are waiting head over to the Play store on your phone and download the new Vive Phone Companion app.
This app will help users sync their phone to the Vive allowing them to stay connected to friends and family in real life while exploring virtual reality. The Vive can use its on-board mic and desired headphones to pass communications to and from the phone.
How will your phone connect to the Vive?
To create this relationship for the first time you will need to set the Vive headset down. This connection is made via Bluetooth. The app will make your phone visible to other devices around you, then you will need to go to your computer to finish the pairing process. Afterwards, you can put the HMD on and find the related connection in the system manager.
While you won’t necessarily be able to interact with your phone in a game you’ll have to move to the Vive dashboard first. Then you can check missed calls and texts while replying with quick responses and even check calendar event details.
