HTC Desire 310 to merge BlinkFeed with stock Android UI

Last week we got a glimpse of the HTC Desire 310 when HTC mistakenly published the handset details to its international website. The details on HTC’s site matched up with the HTC Desire 310w which was spotted in POSTEL’s database, but we’ve now received word that one main feature may have been overlooked – the HTC Desire 310’s stock Android UI. According to miyachiki on Weibo, current software builds for the HTC Desire 310 show that the phone will sport a stock Android interface with HTC’s BlinkFeed built in. Our source claims that the HTC Desire 310 and future HTC devices running on MediaTek processors will share the same UI.

The screenshots from the HTC Desire 310 shared by miyachiki also show that the phone will have on-screen buttons. The images show the HTC Desire 310’s stock Android dialer, setting screen, software details and BlinkFeed with stock Android’s messaging and dialer icons. Miyachiki shared with us that the on-screen button differences in several of the images is due to his access to screen shots during different stages of the software’s development. While seeing stock Android running on an HTC device is a bit unusual, we were more surprised to learn that the HTC Desire 310 will not actually be built by HTC. Development and production of the HTC Desire 310 lies in the hands of Compal Comm a Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) – the second-largest contract laptop manufacturer in the world.

Powered by a MediaTek processor, many were expecting the HTC Desire 310 to be a budget-friendly device for the Chinese market. If Compal Comm is in charge of development and production, we won’t be surprised if the HTC Desire 310 launches as the cheapest HTC branded handset ever.

  1. The on-screen buttons are different from the images. I do not think this is official…

  2. @Tarcisio did you read the article?

I’m a fan of this idea. Stick Android milled in with a few HTC featured on low spec phones should help performance and the update process.

  3. HTC has officially announced the Desire 310, its mid-range successor to the Desire 300. The specs won’t blow your mind, but they’re sure to be enough to make this affordable handset sing.
