HTC CEO expects “difficult” recovery in U.S. market

HTC is hoping that the upcoming release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE for Sprint and the HTC One X for AT&T will help it regain market share in the increasingly competetive U.S. smartphone market.  The Taiwanese company’s profits have bee declining over the past several months and have only recently began to show an improvement.

HTC’s CEO Peter Chou believes the company will have a difficult time regaining market share in the U.S.  “It’s difficult to recover our market share in the U.S.  We will have more balanced growth in different markets this year. We are confident in the company’s future. We have seen encouraging growth momentum in the second quarter.”  Chou anticipates that HTC will continue to strengthen its presence in Asia and Europe despite stiff competition from Huawei and ZTE.

Tell us your thoughts.  Do you think the HTC One series will help HTC recover it’s market share or will it continue to trail Apple and Samsung in the U.S. market.

I think so. I was able to handle the One X and S and they’re both really nice. I’m picking up the EVO LTE.
