AT&T releases Android 4.0 update for the HTC Vivid

The wait is finally over for HTC Vivid owners. AT&T has announced that the HTC Vivid Android 4.0 update is now available by pressing Menu > Settings > AT&T Software Updates > Check for updates. Once the download starts, simply follow the on-screen instruction to install it. For now, the Ice Cream Sandwich update can only be downloaded while your phone is connected through Wi-Fi.

Once Android 4.0 is installed, you will be treated to HTC sense 3.6 which features a few minor UI improvements, security enhancements and  Wi-Fi Direct. Naturally, the Android 4.0 update also features its own enhancements which include new multi-tasking capabilities, faceunlock, advanced data monitoring, improved web browser and much more.  Don’t forget, you can also Google’s new Chrome browser which only works on Android 4.0 devices.

We’re glad another HTC device has been updated to Android 4.0, but we were actually expecting the T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G to be updated before the Vivid. HTC announced that the Sensation 4G would receive the update before the end of the month – giving HTC only nine more days. Time’s ticking away.

  1. Though I am very happy with many of the updates contained in ICS, everyone should be aware that the ringtone volume and notification volume have been tied together. Therefore it will be impossible to mute or lower the notification sounds while leaving the ringer volume at a comfortable level. This hits me hard as I get automated email from my office all night long and used to use sound manager to mute the notification sounds during my sleep period.

  2. I have an at&t HTC vivid and I am out of us and am unable to get the 4.0 update through auto software update. plz guide me to how to get the update for my at&t HTC vivid
