Android 4.0 update for the HTC Vivid now available from AT&T

Officially, AT&T and HTC are not rolling out the Android 4.0 update to the HTC Vivid, but someone has found a way to manually download and install the update from the phone. If you own the HTC vivid, open the dialer, type in *#*#682#*#* and wait for the update notification to appear in the top bar. It’s that simple. We’re pretty sure that AT&T doesn’t want people downloading the HTC Vivid’s Ice Cream Sandwich before they are ready to release it, so we suggest you act fast.

HTC has been on a bit of a hot streak recently with releasing Android 4.0 update for their phones. Since HTC hasn’t mentioned that the HTC Vivid’s update would be made available in March, AT&T was most likely planning on pushing out the OTA update during the first few weeks in April. According to HTC, the Sensation 4G and the Sensation XL should be next.

If you manually download the Android 4.0 update with HTC Sense 3.6 for your HTC vivid, please leave us a comment below to let us know how the update goes and how you like the new changes. We’d also be interested in hearing if the phone receives a noticeable performance improvement after the update.

  1. Well, if someone was able to use this, it wasn’t me. Looks like they closed this loophole.

  2. My phone worked excellent before this update. Since yesterday when I downloaded and installed it on my Sensation, it’s been several problems. For example I can’t open messages; it just says “Wait…” for ages and nothing happens. Also, it seem to change my settings such as new signals when I receive messages and it doesn’t care if I change it back afterwards!

What has happened? What can I do about it? My phone is just freaking out…!
