Leaked RUU brings a taste of Honeycomb to the HTC Flyer

Honeycomb for the HTC Flyer is finally here!  No, this isn’t an official release build that’ll roll out to end users, but a Beta Honeycomb RUU which should give us a good look at what the HTC Flyer will be like once it’s loaded up with Google’s official tablet version of Android.  The leaked HTC Flyer RUU comes courtesy of Paul O’Brien from MoDaCo, but it’s the folks from XDA-Developers (as usual) who have managed to get it actually working on the 7-inch tablet. The RUU come pre-rooted but requires an extensive workaround to get it to load up.

You can find instructions on how to load the Beta Honeycomb build on your HTC flyer here, but please proceed with caution.   The process required you to void your warranty and may brick your precious tablet if you’re not exactly sure what you are doing.

While we’re excited about the Beta Honeycomb build for the HTC Flyer, we’re even more excited about the possibility of an official Honeycomb release from HTC. We’ve known that HTC planned on upgrading the HTC Flyer to Android 3.x for quite some time, but it seemed their focus was to get the HTC Puccini/Jetstream out the door first.
