HTC Omega ‘Mango’ Windows Phone appears on online auction site

And the plot thickens, with the HTC Omega getting some in the wild coverage from an owner who is auctioning the unreleased device on an Algerian website. Ironic isn’t it, that we expect the Omega or “Radar”, which is about to be announced at a HTC event in London  on September 1st. All we have seen of the device so far is design renders which make it look like the progeny of the Flyer, except in white. So for  HTC’s first Mango Phone to be available to the highest bidder and pictured in the wild, is a bit of a conundrum and indicative of the problems OEM’s face in keeping a secret when it comes to new devices. The info comes via Mon Windows Phone and it looks like the Omega is going for an inflated price. While this bit of opportunism affords us our first look at the Omega for real, and it looks real good.

The question as always is how do people get their hands on these pre release phones and where do I sign up? We expect to see the Omega, an original device running Windows Phone 7.5, announced in a couple of days with specs that include a front facing camera, 8 megapixel rear shooter,  3.8 inch touch screen, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor and 512MB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. The Omega is destined for northern Europe by the looks of this leak, considering it’s being trialled there. For first generation Windows Phone owners, the Mango update is not really going to align with the release of Mango devices. Waiting for the update to be pushed out, and not buying a new phone a year after you got your last is going to be hard. See the rest of the images below
