HTC seeking to trademark the HTC EVO View 4G name

We have received as few clues as to what Sprint is planning to unveil at CTIA in a few weeks, but now we have some concrete evidence that a portion of that information is actually true. A new document filed with the U.S. Patent Office shows that HTC is seeking to trademark the name HTC EVO View 4G. This certainly does not prove that Sprint will be launching an HTC tablet at CTIA, but we’d be extremely shocked if they didn’t.

The HTC EVO View 4G name implies that the Android tablet will feature support for Sprint’s 4G WiMax network, making it one of the first 4G tablets to hit the market.  Some have pointed out that the HTC EVO View 4G may actually be the HTC Verdi rather than the HTC Flyer.  Rumored specs on the HTC Verdi suggest that it will be a 10-inch Android tablet with a dual-core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm running on Android 3.0.

Hopefully we’ll be getting  more details on the HTC EVO View 4G over the next few days.  As much as we like the HTC Flyer, we’d definitely be more excited to see Sprint and HTC unveil the HTC Verdi at CTIA.

  1. Hope this isn’t a dumb question: Do these new android tablets that are tied to a phone carrier able to make a phone call?

    1. Not a dumb question at all. HTC mentioned that the HTC Flyer would not be able to make phone calls. Just to double check, I went back through a few hands-on videos of the HTC Flyer to see if I ccould spot the “phone” app in the app drawer. Just as expected, it was not present.
