Thanks to Android, HTC nearly triples Q4 profits in 2010

Anyone claiming that it’s hard to make a profit off of Google’s open Android platform might want to check in with HTC and ask them how things are done. HTC’s latest numbers for Q4 of 2010 show that the smartphone manufacturer nearly tripled their profits over the previous year, pulling in $500 million. While those numbers are quite impressive, HTC still has plans to double their totals from last year during 2011. There’s no doubt that Android was the main factor behind HTC tremendous growth, but in order to sustain their momentum, HTC will definitely keep churning out new Windows Phone 7 handsets simply to make sure that they reach as many customers as possible.
