Exclusive: T-Mobile myTouch HD exposed as the new myTouch 2

It’s not every day that we break an exclusive here at HTC Source, but today is our (and your) lucky day. Just a few hours ago, the myTouch HD was uncovered on T-Mobile’s website, but with a little more digging, we discovered a few more larger images of the handset and the phone’s real name. While we like the sound of the myTouch HD, it looks like the new handset will actually be named the T-Mobile myTouch 2. This bit of information actually comes from T-Mobile’s file naming structure for the images we found. Our digging did not reveal any new specs on the myTouch 2, though the side angle image does reveal that the phone features connection pins similar to those found on Google’s Nexus One. There’s no guarantee, but it looks like T-Mobile is planning to launch a car or desk dock for the myTouch 2.

We still don’t know when the myTouch 2 will be hitting the streets, but from what Engadget uncovered it looks like customers may be able to pick the phone up for free.

NOTE: Though T-Mobile’s website clearly states “Priced as low as FREE” our friends over at TmoNews have informed us that T-Mobile often labels handsets as being “FREE” when they have not yet been priced.
