HTC confirms One X WiFi issues are tied to hardware.

The HTC One series has been a great addition to the HTC smartphone lineup with all variants of the series receiving a lot of positive feedback.  The One X is the flagship version and while overall it is a great phone, there has been a growing outcry regarding WiFi connectivity.  It seems that many users are experiencing issues with the phone establishing or maintaining a WiFi connection.

HTC attempted to resolve the issue using a software update, but the issue persists.  XDA forum members have noticed that the signal appears to strengthen when squeezing the phone.  HTC has now confirmed that this is a hardware issue and has indicated that they have “identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the WiFi antennae connection points.”  They also announced that they have “taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future.”  It should be noted that HTC believes this only affects a small number of One X owners.

Let us know if you’ve been plagued by WiFi issues using your HTC One X.  Have you found a good way to resolve any WiFi issues?

  1. Terrible phone.
Weak signals, screen problems, quality control sloppy, wifi gate, software bugs…but still they got my $700. (last time though)

  2. I have been going over my data limit since I Baught the one x, I have WiFi at home but if it’s not connecting that may explain my extra data usage. I do all my downloads at home.
