Pre-orders for the HTC Vive are off to a good start. HTC isn’t giving us hard numbers regarding how many units it’s sold already, but thanks to an HTC employee we do know that 15,000 HTC Vive units were pre-ordered in the first 10 minutes. That may not sound like a huge number, but it does add up to $12 million in revenue. Since then, the shipping date for new HTC Vive pre-orders has been changed to May from early April. We do not know how many units HTC had allotted for April shipments, but we’re hoping the number is a lot higher than 15,000.
HTC will likely not be making any official comments regarding HTC Vive pre-order numbers for a while, but we’ll be keeping an eye on estimated shipping date to see if it gets pushed back even further.
