HTC and Valve will send out the HTC Vive to developers for free over the summer

As promised, HTC and Valve are gearing up to get the HTC Vive into the hands of developers. Valve has annoucned that it is now talking applications for developers who plan on creating content for the HTC Vive. Since there will be no cost to developers, we’re sure there will be fearce competition from the developers and intense scrutiny from Valve and HTC to choose the right candidates.

It’s unclear how many HTC Vive developer units will be shipped out, but Valve is promising to “distributing dev kits continually, with new units going out every couple weeks.”

HTC and Valve have promised that the HTC Vive will ship as a commercial VR headset by the end of 2015, so we’re hoping that developers have enough time to get familair with the Vive and develop some incredible content for it. Everyone who has used HTC Vive has stated that it offers the most immersive virtual reality experience – outclassing what Oculus and Sony have been working on for the past few years.
