It looks like the rumors were true – AT&T has announced that it will start selling the HTC Desire 610 as a pre-paid GoPhone on July 25 for $199.99. AT&T’s version of the HTC Desire 610 appears to be identical to that European model pf the phone which has been available for a few months. The only difference we’ve been able to spot is the AT&T logo on the back of the phone and a few tweaked radio bands so that the HTC Desire 610 works flawlessly on AT&T’s LTE network here in the US.
The HTC Desire’s spec list includes Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 5.5, a 4.7-inch qHD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, mircoSD card slot (up to 64GB), BoomSound front-facing speakers, 8 megapixel (BSI sensor, f/2.4, 8MP) rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera all powered by a 2040 mAh battery. The HTC Desire 610 will definitely not be stealing potential customers away from the HTC One (M8) or any other flagship device offered by AT&T, but it definitely is the most attractive device in AT&T’s GoPhone lineup. The HTC Desire 610 outclasses the $249.99 Samsung Galaxy Xpress on every level and even performs better than the Samsung Galaxy S III which AT&T is selling at a GoPhone for $464.99.
Now that the HTC Desire 610 has made its way to the US shores, we’re hoping to see the Desire 816 and HTC One mini 2 make an appearance in the near future.
