Rumored HTC M8 Ace to compete with Samsung Galaxy S5 on specs at a dramatically lower price

It looks like the rumored HTC M8 Ace may not be the One (M8) mini or One (M8) max after all. According to Engadget, a trusted source has revealed that the HTC M8 Ace is a replica of the HTC One (M8) which trades in its aluminum unibody shell for plastic one. HTC is apparently working to deliver the HTC M8 Ace as a direct response to the Samsung Galaxy S5, but at a much cheaper price point. The handset is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p display  and a 2.5GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, but it’s unclear at this point if the M8 Ace will sport the same Duo Camera as the HTC One (M8).

While the unlocked HTC One (M8) and the Samsung Galaxy S5 both sell for roughly $650 in the US, the HTC M8 Ace is expected to sell for CN¥3,000 in China (just shy of $480 USD). The HTC M8 Ace’s rumored price is 25% lower than that Samsung’s flagship in the US, but it’s more than 45% lower than the Galaxy S5 in China. HTC has never positioned itself as a “value” brand, but the rumored device may be Ace HTC needs to win this round against Samsung.

    1. Engadget is claiming it’ll be a 2.5GHz SoC so that it matches what Samsung is offering with the Galaxy S5.

      1. A little bump in specs from the all-metal M8 flagship? Guess I’ll have to overclock now to stay current! ;o)

        1. HTC has removed 2.5GHz in India and China market so it can well be that and not against the 2.3GHz but i feel they will break thier own market and reduce the sell of this masterpiece.
