HTC's latest Touch 3G comes with a light version of their TouchFLO 3D which gives the device a slick new interface. Now, HTC is offering the same TouchFLO 2D for those who purchased the 128MB HTC Touch from last year. All you need to do is head over to www.htc.com, log into your account and download the firmware upgrade. Unfortunately HTC will not be releasing the interface for the original 64MB Touch since the firmware upgrade would consume too much of the limited memory on the device. But if you are willing to give it a try, head over to xda-developers. I have had TouchFLO 2D installed on my original 64MB Touch for a few months now and it runs just fine. You'll just have to give up installing other apps since memory is quite limited.

UPDATE: A few readers have pointed out that they were not able to find the download page on HTC's site.  I have updated the link above withthe direct link to the site, or you can click here.

Nick,

Where can I download the update, i've
been on the support and e-club sections, and can't
find it!

It appears this is false
information, gone are the days
of confirming things prior to
presenting them as fact

First clue:
Logging into the HTC website to
download updates was done away with
months ago. In fact, the HTC Club
doesn't even provide downloads.
To download updates, you go to
the support tab, the download
section, and select your device.
There's a HTC Touch, but no differential
of HTC Touch Enhanced vs  just the HTC
Touch.  The update listed in this post
doesn't appear on the HTC Touch download
page.  I suspect if this update were
legit, a direct link would've been
posted just as it was for the
XDA download link.

Sorry for not having the link before. It seems
that HTC is not hosting the download on their US
site. You can find it here http://www.htc.com/s

Not sure what you thought was useful about this
info -- the link you provided was for Asia/India
HTC... I tried to apply this update to my Touch
and now it will only boot up with 3 colored bands.
You shouldn't be presenting info that you haven't
thoroughly researched, or tried yourself. There
is no other shipping ROM available for me to
un-brick my device. Thanks a lot, this thing
wasn't cheap.

This site is obviously not a
credible one.

how it this htc source's fault. They prodived a
link to a ROM update. You were the one who used
it for the wrong phone. Whenre did you get your
phone from anyways. Most people with the 128MB
GSM version got theirs imported from
tiawan.

You're phone's not bricked. Simply
find another ROM to flash to it.

I got it here: http://www.smart-mob
ile-gadgets.com -- hardly Tawain. I would
re-flash it with the original ROM, if the download
existed at the HTC site. It's registered there,
but there isn't a shipping or updated ROM for it.
I've tried the ones at XDA, but apparently I
needed to know my product ID or something prior to
the bricking of it. Tried a couple I though it
might be, but they return a 'invalid product id'
error.

My suggestion would be to call HTC and let them
know what happened. 1-866-449-8358 or you can
e-mail them repair_inquiry@h tc.com

If
you've had the phone for less than a year it
should still be under warranty. If anything, they
should be able to give you the product number if
you give them the serial number.

Can Canada download this? seems only for europe

I'd contact HTC to see if this ROM upgrade would
work on your device before trying to install it.
Maybe the safe bet is to simply install the
xda-dev hacked TouchFLO 2D
