FCC outs the HTC Hero with at&t 3G network support
Written by Nick Gray

It's been just over a week since we first laid eyes on the HTC Hero.  Now, the FCC has just posted up documents on their site which indicate that the android handset has passed FCC testing.  As usual, there's nothing that interesting in the reports unless you like reading through 300 pages which detail the amount of radiation coming out from the phone's various radios.  The only thing we could find that people would actually be interested in is that the US bound HTC Hero will feature WCDMA support with 1900 and 850MHz frequencies. If you're still scratching your head, those numbers line up perfectly with At&t's high speed networks.

There has been a lot of speculation that Sprint of T-Mobile would be picking up the Hero.  This FCC report does not disprove any of those rumors, but just gives us confirmation that we will see the HTC Hero showing up in At&t stores (hopefully in Q3).

If you want to check out the FCC report on the Hero for yourself, be our guest.

Customize your Android phone with HTC Hero wallpapers
Written by Nick Gray

I'm sure by now everyone is trying to find a way to sell their HTC G1 of Magic to save up enough money for the new HTC Hero. We have good news for you. Don't sell your Android phone for the Hero, just use Hero wallpapers! Ok, it might not be as exciting as having the Sense UI on your phone, but at least it will make you feel like your phone is new and exciting for a few days.

Developers have been hacking and flashing the Hero ROM to the G1 for quite some time now, but someone finally thought it would be a good idea to extract all the wallpapers that the Hero will be shipping with. We've got all 25 Hero wallpapers posted after the break, make sure you check it out

Instructions: Just save the images to your desktop or Android phone. The thumbnails are actually 640x480 and have only been resized in the web browser.

Android gets "Visual Voicemail" with Google Voice
Written by Nick Gray

When the iPhone launched a few years back, one of the new features that it brought to the table was its visual voicemail system that allowed you to see your messages on your phone and choose which ones to listen to first or delete ones from people you just didn't want to hear from.  Google Voice launched in beta just last week and our friends over at Engadget Mobile have figured out a way to integrate the new service into their Android handset and give you the visual voicemail experience you have always wanted on your Android phone.

I'm not gonna cover all the details, but if you want to learn more just head on over to Engadget

HTC Hero launching on July 15 for £429.99 ($710)
Written by Nick Gray

We've known that Orange UK would be launching the HTC Hero some time in July, but now we have confirmation from Amazon in the U.K. that the Hero will also be available for those who are not willing to sign a contract.  A SIM unlocked versiob of the HTC Hero will set you back £429.99 or just over $710. Keep in mind that tax is already included in that price. Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the new HTC and will be shipping out the handsets on July 15.

Just got a tip in right now as I am writing this.  Expansys.com is also taking pre-orders for the Hero for £399.99 ($50 less than Amazon) with an expected availability date of July 8th, a whole week sooner than Amazon
