About Nick Gray
Within the next few months, we'll be seeing images of the HTC Touch Diamond showing up, courtesy of our good friends at the FCC since HTC is poised to make the Diamond their best selling device ever. We already know that Spring has big plans for the Touch Diamond (and also the Raphael which HTC has not yet announced), but who else will be picking up the Diamond here in the states? Our gut feeling it that T-Mobile may be the first to carry the Diamond out of the GSM carriers. T-Mobile just launched their new 1700 MHz 3G network last week in New York, with plans to cover most large cities by the end of the year. Along those lines, the Touch Diamond will be one of the first devices to ship with 1700 MHz 3G support and it would make a bold statement for T-Mobile to let everyone know they now offer 3G.
Lets just cross our fingers and wait to see what happens. There are a lot of people out there who thing T-Mobile has become irrelevant since they have waited for so long to launch their 3G network. But with Sprint facing tough times, losing customers by the thousands every day, it just shows that there's a lot more to a good service provider than a fast network.
The T-Mobile MDA Compact IV was just officially announced yesterday and now we already have a video walk through of the device. You'll notice that not much has changed on HTC's TouchFLO 3d interface except for the colors. T-Mobile UK is planning on launching the MBA Compact IV in early July.
The HTC Touch Diamond release date is set for June along with price of $772, for those not planning on picking the diamond up from their local carrier.
After digging through a few dozen videos on the diamond’s new TouchFLO 3D interface, I finally found one that does a good job at showing off the interface in action. It seems as though the Touch Diamond is more of a secondary player with TouchFLO 3D stealing everyone’s attention.
For those of you who didn’t get a chance to attend HTC’s launch event of the Touch Diamond this week, you can now enjoy a full video of the event. It’s a bit long, but a lot better than sifting though multiple video on different sites and then realizing you just watched 4 videos of the same thing.
gone are the days of using the WM interface to navigate though your pictures and video files on your HTC device. ToucFLO 3D allows you to flick through your pictures and video files with simple finger gestures. With HTC Touch Diamond’s accelerometer, image will automatically rotate when you rotate the device.
HTC’s original TouchFLO Cube offered a page for access to nine of your favorite contacts. With TouchFLO 3D they now offer a “People” interface which allows you to scroll through images of your contacts in a pseudo coverflow manner. HTC has not stated if this is a “contact favotires” feature which you can assign to your contacts or if it automatically appried to your entire address book.
TouchFLO 3D will feature in interactive weather application which gives you finger friendly weather updates for your location and other cities across the globe. TouchFLO 3D allows for amazingly beautiful weather forecast animations including a moving clouds, suns, and raindrops which pour onto your screen. Probably the coolest feature in the animation is the windshield wipers that turn on to wipe away the rain.
