Edge Sense beta will add custom squeeze actions to any app

HTC will soon (sometime Thursday night) be releasing a beta update to Edge Sense via the Play Store which will enable some of the new features which were teased a few weeks back. In Google maps and Google Photos you’ll be able to zoom and out by squeezing the edges of the HTC U11, but the beta will also be including a feature which will allow you to program a custom action for your favorite apps.

These custom actions effectively represent a tap on the screen, so you should be able to tap the “+” icon in Instagram to start a new image post and tap the check-in icon in Swarm. Since the function is based on a screen overlay, the action needs to be tied to a UI element that remains pretty constant within the specific app’s layout.

Once the beta hits, we’ll give you an in-depth look at the new features offered by Edge Sense.
