New Pixel 2 rumors reveal more details

New Pixel rumors are flying around the web, giving us more details regarding the specifications of the two upcoming phones. Unfortunately, the new rumors don’t do anything to clear up the mystery regarding who will be building the new Pixel XL (Taimen) for Google.

HTC appeared to have the contract to build both phones this year, but a few rumors are now implying that Google may have pulled in LG to build the larger device since it will feature LG’s new OLED panels. Hopefully, we’ll get some clarification on this topic in the coming weeks.

Without further ado, here are the latest rumors regarding the Pixel 2 phones.

Taimen (Google Pixel 2)

The phone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which will be clocked at 2.4GHz and will feature a 5.99-inch, 1440p OLED display panel from LG with smaller bezels than the original Pixel XL. The Taimen will have 4GB of RAM a 128GB storage option, but other storage configurations may also be available. The two-tone glass and metal finish which was introduced on last year’s Pixel phones will be making a comeback, but the glass portion will not wrap around the fingerprint scanner. The camera sensor and lens details have not been shared, but the source claims that Google will not be equipping the Taimen with a dual-camera setup on the back.

Walleye (Google Pixel)

The base model for this year is said to feature an “almost identical” design to last year’s Pixel with large bezels above and below its 4.97-inch 1080p display. Powering the phone will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip which is paired with 4G of RAM and 64GB of storage. Like the HTC U11, the Walleye will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it will come with stereo speakers. It’s not clear if the speakers will be featured on the front of the phone or in the same manner as the HTC U11’s.
