HTC rumored to begin testing its Snapdragon 835 device on Verizon

According to an inside source, HTC is set to begin testing its 2017 flagship smartphone on Verizon’s network. Details of the phone’s specifications are scarce, but the source claims that the device in question is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor.

This information aligns with previous rumors which claim that HTC’s 2017 flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s newest SoC and will also be equipped with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a duo-camera with 24 and 13-megapixel sensors on the back, 16MP front-facing camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It’s also safe to assume that the phone in question will have BoomSound speakers, USonic adaptive audio over USB-C and HTC’s new Sense Companion AI which were also available on the HTC U Ultra.

The name of HTC’s upcoming flagship device is still unknown at this point. The obvious name would be the HTC 11, but it could also be released under the new HTC U brand. And then there’s the HTC Sense Touch UI video (embedded below) which has been floating around on the web.

For now, the HTC U Ultra is the best HTC smartphone that money can buy (even though it won’t ship until mid-March). But if you’re holding out for something better, it looks like your patience will be rewarded.

  1. The U is *not* the “best money can buy.” If you’re on Verizon or Sprint, the HTC 10 is still the best you can buy. And, frankly, the U isn’t necessarily an improvement, depending upon one’s needs and demands.

As to testing, I would expect Verizon testing to be underway within 30 days, but that’s my own estimate.

  2. Harold, your comment made me very happy. My previous smartphone was an HTC ReZound and I used it for 5 years. Finally moved up to the HTC M10 and I am very happy. I really don’t see what else could be added or improved… except the battery, which is already good… and the camera. But those are supposed to be improved with the new Nougat release. If we Verizon owners ever get it. It is looking like version ‘O’ will be out before we get ‘N’. 🙂

  3. I hope it ticks all the features I am looking for in the upgrade I want to do from the great htc one m8.
