Fishy HTC 11 leak claims it will have 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and an odd resolution display

As we inch our way closer to the unveiling of the HTC 11, we’re bound to get a few rumors which don’t quite look right. The latest one claims to show off the screen from the About section in the settings. The screenshot lists the phone’s processor (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835), its RAM (6GB), internal storage (112GB remaining from a 128GB chip), Android version (7.12 with HTC Sense 9.0) and the phone’s display resolution (1556 x 2550).

We would certainly be excited if the upcoming HTC 11 were to coming with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the standard configuration, but we’re not sure you should get your hopes up quite yet. To us, the screenshot looks a little off. The first thing that bothers us is the fact that the phone’s specs are revealed within the settings. HTC has not typically revealed this much information regarding the phone’s hardware within the standard settings pages. Second: the IMEI of the phone does not correspond to IMEI numbers used by HTC devices. For the most part, HTC’s IMEI numbers start with a 3 (GSM models) or a 9 (CDMA models).

HTC-11-Specifications

There’s a good chance that the HTC 11 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and we don’t see any reason why the phone wouldn’t have a variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We just don’t think that the leak we have here is enough to definitively state that those specs will, in fact, be present on HTC’s upcoming 2017 flagship smartphone.
