HTC 10 evo unveiled as HTC’s first online-only smartphone

As expected, the HTC 10 evo has officially been unveiled for Europe. The phone is a carbon copy of the HTC Bolt, which is available exclusively from Sprint in the US. The only real difference between the two devices is the LTE network bands they support.

While Sprint is putting an emphasis on the HTC Bolt’s support for its LTE Plus network in the US, HTC is focus its attention on the 10 evo’s BoomSound Adaptive Audio headphones which analyze the users ear canal and surrounding audio environment to fine tune their output. We have not tried BoomSound Adaptive Audio for ourselves, but we’re told that the audio experience is superior to what is offered by the HTC 10 even when using custom audio profiles on HTC’s flagship device.

HTC has not disclosed when the HTC 10 evo will be available for purchase or how much it will cost. But if you were planning on purchasing the phone from your favorite service provider, you’ll be disappointed to hear that the 10 evo will be sold exclusively online with now service provider incentives to help reduce the cost. In the US, the HTC Bolt is selling for $600, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the HTC 10 evo show up for €600 or a bit more.

The HTC evo 10 isn’t as powerful as the HTC 10, but its larger display, larger battery, higher resolution front-facing camera, IP57 dust and water resistance and unique BoomSound Adaptive Audio could persuade buyers to opt for the 10 evo instead of a mid-range Samsung or LG device.
