Pixel and Pixel XL officially unveiled

Say hello to the Pixel and Pixel XL, the newest smartphone from Google. We’ve seen Nexus devices from Google in the past, but the new HTC-built Pixel phones are ushering in a new era for Google. The Pixel phones aren’t built to showcase the latest version of Android. They’re built to showcase Google and all that the company has to offer.

As the rumors suggest, the Pixel and Pixel XL are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processors, 4GB of RAM 32 or 128GB of storage an amazing 12MP main camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Pixel is the smaller of the two devices with a 5-inch 1080p display and a 2,770 mAh battery while the Pixel XL has a 5.5-inch QHD display and 3,450 mAh battery.

But the Pixel phones are a lot more than just specs. The two devices will be the first on the market to ship with Google Assistant built in. The assistant will be able to help you remember the combination to your bike lock, make dinner reservations for you and pull up pictures and videos with simple voice commands.

Since the Pixel phones run on Android Nougat, they will also feature seamless updates. This means that security updates and version updates will download and install in the background. Users will no longer have to wait 20-30 minutes for updates to install, giving them more freedom in how they use the phones.

Pixel owners will also get unlimited storage through Google Photos, allowing them to backup original-sized photos and video – including 4K. Since photos and videos are the main things to consume data on phones, Pixel owners will technically have limitless storage for life.

Google is also throwing in 24/7 customer support which allows Pixel users to contact Google customer support by phone or through chat. In order to make the experience even better, user will even be able to share their screen with customer support while talking with them.

For $649 you’ll be able to buy the 32GB model of the Pixel. If you’re looking for more storage, the 128GB model will set you back $749. The 32GB Pixel XL will sell for $769 and the 128GB model jumps up to $869.
