Pixel phones heading to 1,000 stores in India, HTC to handle after-sale service

Google is planning to sell the Pixel and Pixel XL in more than 1,000 retail outlets across India. The phones will be sold by large retail chains like Vijay Sales, Croma, Reliance Digital, Jumbo, Spice Mobility, Poorvika and Sangeetha Mobiles, but online pre-orders and sales of the two phones will be handled by Flipkart. Additionally, HTC will handle post-sale service for the Pixel and Pixel XL at 56 walk-in service centers in 30 different cities in India.

While Nexus devices got a lot of attention from Android fanboys, it’s clear that Google is positioning its Pixel phones as mainstream competitors to the Apple iPhone 7 and other Android devices. HTC has a fairly decent presence in India, but the region typically has been more favorable towards Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Meizu and Lenovo who offer decent phones at incredibly low prices. Since the Pixel and Pixel XL are close in price to the HTC 10, it’s difficult to know if the Google-branded smartphones will fare any better than the HTC 10 has.

If you had  the option of buying the HTC 10 or Google Pixel for the same price, which smartphone would you choose?

  1. By the way the HTC10 is now cheaper than the Google Pixel.
So I guess I would go with the HTC 10 as I would be saving Rs 9,000/-
