HTC One A9S announced, a mid-range follow-up to last year’s One A9

HTC has just unveiled the new HTC One A9S – a follow-up to last year’s One A9. While new phones are typically better than the phones that they follow, the HTC One A9S isn’t really a step up over the 2015 model.

HTC has equipped the HTC One A9S with a MediaTek® Helio P10 processor and will have two models available: one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and the second with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The 5-inch display features a resolution of 720p. The main camera has a 13MP BSI sensor, featuring auto-focus, LED flash, and an f 2/2 aperture lens. The front-facing camera is equipped with a 5 megapixel BSI sensor, and anf2.8 aperture, fixed focus lens. The phone feature’s the HTC BoomSound audio profile, but it has a single speaker on the bottom edge. Battery capacity is limited to 2,300 mAh, but that should be enough to squeeze out a full day of use under moderate usage conditions.

The metal body of the HTC One A9S looks similar to last year’s model, but there are a few minor tweaks to note. The HTC logo has been removed from the front of the phone, the camera on the back has been moved to the top left corner and the metal unibody is two-tones with a polished finish along the sides.

HTC isn’t ready to announce the price and retail launch date of the HTC One A9S, but it claims that the device will be cheaper than the $500 price tag of the HTC One A9.
