HTC shuts down operations in Italy

HTC has been running its operations in Italy with a pretty small team over the past year, but word started to spread that HTC is planning to completely shut down local operations in Italy. Unfortunately, the rumors are true. HTC has confirmed that it has closed its office in Italy.

The company is cutting back to meet business realignment efforts to reduce cost while improving HTC’s operational model. The good news is that HTC will still be selling its products in Italy through its local distribution partners, so Italians should still be able to buy the upcoming HTC 10 once it hits store shelves this spring.

“We can confirm that HTC has closed its Italian office however we will continue to operate our business through a network of local distribution partners. As part of a strategic program of business realignment, which adopts a leaner and more agile operating model, this new set up will position us for significant profitable growth across our three core businesses: smartphones, connected devices and virtual reality.”
