HTC One M8 receiving Android Marshmallow update in Asia

The Android Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 is now available for unlocked devices in Asia. The HTC One M8 in the US was the first of HTC’s devices to be updated to Android 6.0 in early December of last year.

If you own an HTC One M8 that was purchased in Asia but have not yet received an update notification on your phone, you can manually ping HTC’s servers by going to Settings > About > Software Updates and tap Check Now at the bottom.

The Android 6.0 update for the Asian HTC One M8 is 1.14GB. The update screen suggests you set aside a full hour to download and install the new version of Android. While it will take some time, once the update is installed, the HTC One M8 will have a few new customization options thanks to the updated version of HTC Sense, Google’s Now on Tap, doze battery management and adaptive storage which allows you to expandable storage of the microSD card as system storage on the phone (check out the video below).

With Android Marshmallow rolled out to the unlocked US and Asian versions of the HTC One M8, HTC focus will not turn to the European variant of the phone. We don’t have a solid lead on a date, but rumor has it that HTC will push out the update early next week. As always, let us know how the update process goes for you and what you like about Android Marshmallow on the HTC One M8.
