HTC One M8 Marshmallow update rolling out to phones across Europe

Ladies and gentlemen, the Android 6.0 update for the European HTC One M8 has landed! We have received reports from over two dozen HTC One M8 owners across Europe who have successfully downloaded the new Android 6.0 update for their phones. From what we can tell, the update is being pushed to unlocked and carrier-branded versions of the HTC One M8.

If you purchased an HTC One M8 in Europe but have not yet received a notification to download the software update on your phone, you can try downloading the update manually by heading to Settings > About > Software Updates > Check Now. If the download does not start, you may need to wait a few more hours as HTC only allows a certain number of devices to download the update at once.

Android 6.0 for the HTC One M8 doesn’t look much different than the current software build, but there a few important features which are hidden below the surface. Google Now includes the new Now on Tap functionality, the doze feature extends the battery life of the phone and Adaptive Storage allow you to increase the system memory if your phone with a microSD card (see video below).

With the Android 6.0 update for the HTC One M8 out in the wild, we should see the same update for the One M9 any day now.

  1. Got it in the UK and so far I am very pleased indeed, the performance has been just as good as I’d expect. However I’m not happy about some things like the power saver mode no longer having the granular control it had before.
