Android 6.0 now roasting on the HTC One M8 GPE

Nearly a month ago we had news that the HTC One M8 Google Play edition was in line to receive the Android 6.0 or Marshmallow update. This news was shared by Mo Versi, the Vice President of Product Management for HTC and he said the update would come before the end of October.

Keeping with the company’s motto to be very transparent, Mo provided an update on October 30th stating there had been an issue that needed to be worked out and the deployment would be delayed.

Only 6 days after that status update did the release of Marshmallow begin to trickle to HTC One M8 GPe users.

The update is 450 MB’s to download then takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the process.

Needless to say, there are some happy One M8 users out there tonight. So we want to know what you like about the update so far.

It’s only a matter of time that HTC starts soak testing Android 6.0 on carrier versions of the HTC One M8, One M9, and other leading models like the Desire class.

Unfortunately, as mentioned before the HTC One M7 GPe is beyond the life cycle and will not be receiving the Android Marshmallow update. I bet you can find a forum out there with people working on delivering a usable version of Marshmallow on the HTC One M7.
