HTC Weather app gets bug fixes

The HTC Weather app is the only I app that I noticed HTC updated this week. The app gets a welcomed update even if it is only bug fixes and performance improvements since it’s been six months since the app has any modifications in the Play store. Visually, there isn’t anything new for us to notice with the app. Bug fixes are like an unsung hero; they don’t get a lot of attention, but they do a lot of work for us in the background without us knowing it.

The HTC Weather app, much like other HTC apps has been extracted from the core of HTC Sense and installed as a self-sufficient app in the Google Play store. This is particularly nice for users, because it means that HTC can provide patches, performance, and new features to the masses without having to go through mobile carriers. We’ve seen this process where HTC has to go through carriers to deliver a security patch and it may be held up by the carrier who puts the changes into a rigorous and sometimes unnecessary evaluation period.

The HTC Weather app works with HTC phones running Android 4.4 and higher. According to the Play store, the app has been installed between 10,000,000 – 50,000,000 times. There are over 9,600 reviews in the Play store and the app maintains a rating 3.9 stars.
