Preliminary Q1 numbers show HTC remaining profitable

HTC has filed its preliminary earnings report for the first quarter of the year with revenue coming in on the $1.3 billion mark and profits settling in at $11.6 million. While profits of $11.6 million aren’t anything to brag about, but number is quite impressive when you consider that HTC posted a $60 million loss during the same quarter last year.

It’s still too early to say how successful the HTC One M9 will be, but we’re hopeful that the company’s flagship will sell better than last year’s HTC One M8 and help HTC’s profits grow next quarter. Due to the company’s handset release cycle, the second quarter of the year is always the most profitable for HTC. We’ll have to wait another three months to see if the HTC One M9 really has what it takes to steal market share from the competition and boost HTC’s bottom line.
