HTC One M9 software update released to improve camera performance

With the US retail launch of the HTC One M9 set for tomorrow, HTC has started pushing a software update to the phone which they claim will improve the performance of the camera. Verizon phones should have the software up and running right out of the box while Sprint phones will get the update first thing tomorrow (April 10th). The camera update for the AT&T and T-Mobile HTC One M9 is undergoing final approvals and should be roll out by next Friday.

The demo unit used for our HTC One M9 review did receive the update this afternoon. In the pictures we’ve taken, we’ve noticed slight improvements in image sharpening, color accuracy and noise reduction. Since we only have one M9, we cannot do a proper before and after comparison. That being said, we will try our best to reproduce some of the pictures we’ve taken with the HTC One M9 (M9 versus HTC Re, M9 versus M8) and compare the final results.
