Lepow Moonstone 9000 power bank review

Are you currently looking for a portable battery for your smartphone, tablet, or other mobile electronic devices? If your answer is yes, then you might want to check out the Lepow Moonstone. The one we will be reviewing today is the Sapphire Blue Lepow Moonstone which is a 9000mAH portable power bank. However, it is also available in 3000mAH and 6000mAh capacities.

Price: $29.99

Design

The first thing you’ll notice about the Lepow Moonstone is the number of accessories that it comes with it. Two of these accessories include a gray traveling case and a flat micro USB cable. Unlike other micro USB cables, this one is easier to roll and pack when traveling. Besides those two accessories, this device also comes shipped with nine items that Lepow likes to call gifts. The gifts include a sleeve, button sticker, gold sticker, silicone suction holder, microSD memory card reader, mini-stylus, cord wrap, headset wrap and screen cleaner. The gifts feel more gimmicky than anything, but at least you’re not paying extra for them.

The unit we received also came shipped with a USB power adapter which feels a little out of place since it looks like a generic one that you can find at your friendly RadioShack.

The Lepow Moonstone has a unique look and feel to it. When you hold it in your hands the device feels a little bulky but the rounded edges make it comfortable to hold. The Lepow Moonstone is available in a variety of lacquered paint colors which gives it a sleek finish.

This power bank has only one button that is located on the back. Pressing the button reveals four LED lights that indicate the available power – each light represents 25% of the total power of the Lepow Moonstone.

This device has two output ports and one input port. One of the output ports has a charging speed of 1.2A, while the other output has a charging speed of 2.1A. You can use each one individually or you can use both outputs to charge two devices at once. Unlike the two output ports, the input port only has a speed of 1A.
Use

To start the Lepow Moonstone, all you need to do is to plug in a device. Once plug in, it will automatically turn on and start charging it. After you unplug your device, the Moonstone will automatically shut down to conserve the remaining power.
It takes approximately 8-9 hours to fully charge the Lepow Moonstone. I mainly used this power bank to charge my HTC One (M7). In my experience, charging my HTC One from a dead battery only took a couple of hours. The 9,000 mAh capacity of the Moonstone is enough to fully charge most of today’s smartphone 3-4 times – giving you enough extra power to go on a weekend getaway without needing to bring along your smartphone’s wall charger.

Conclusion

I really like using the Lepow Moonstone. It is well designed in both functionality and looks. Not only is it portable and works extremely well, but probably the best thing about the Lepow Moonstone is how affordable it is! I highly recommend this power bank and encourage you to give it a try.
