HTC One (M9) specifications

The evolution of the HTC One continues this year with the new HTC One (M9). HTC has tweaked the design of the phone slightly, but its internals are all new. HTC has opted to pair a 5-inch 1080p display with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC. 1. Sorry Nick, but you’re probably gonna need a new blogg soon. I doubt we’ll even see an M10. HTC should have concentrated on making a new flagship, instead just rehashing the M8 and wasting the bloody R&D budget on a fitness band and a VR headset that look like it was designed by a kid…

    1. The VR headset and fitness bands are built in partnership with major players in their respective industries. HTC isn’t stepping out alone. Valve is the undisputed leader in PC Gaming and Under Armour is one of the most well respected names in fitness apparel.

Yes, HTC could have tweaked the front of the One M9 a little to give us a fresh design, but why change a design that won won more awards than the all powerful iPhone? HTC isn’t going anywhere but up.

      1. Sorry Nick, I didn’t mean to sound like a troll. You’ve been part of my daily RSS feed for 2 years. I’m actually gutted. They should have done a lot better than this. I, personally as an actual photographer, am not impressed with that cheapToshiba 20mp BSI sensor with an F2.4 lens and no OIS. There is no way, either photographically or scientifically, that it will come close to the direct competition S6/Edge or, iPhone 6/6+, under any circumstances. The 4mp Ultra on front will be great though.
I run Steam on my Linux laptop at home, so I know what Valve are about. I doubt very much, given CEO Gabe’s views on open source tech, that HTC will be the exclusive for VR headsets.
The fitness band is good, but it’s crowded market.
Last year, in my view, it was correct to go with an iterative update because it was a transitional year for Android 32bit to 64bit and for phone camera tech. Also, it was a correct call to hold back until after the iPhone 6 release, because a lot of M7 and M8 owners didn’t come from Android, they came from IOS. 2015 should have been a year to keep building momentum, by blowing away everyone away again like they did in 2013. You simply cannot rest on your laurels, and rely on past success, for 2yrs and expect us in the tech community to be OK with it, because we are a ficcle bunch…
I feared for them before the release, after the leaks, and I really worry for them now…

        1. I do agree with you on a few points. I was writing a rather long reply, but I’ve decided to refine it a bit and publish it as an article tomorrow.

Thanks for the comments. Honest opinions are always appreciated.

      2. Yeah the only reason it wins award is because HTC add the ability To bring a new design out every year . Not a revamped m8 . That’s what I liked about HTC a company That evolved every year in design . And never sold you the same phone twice . Like Apple and Samsung do . But bin waiting for the new m9 , aka m8 remix. Vary disappointing.

  2. I’ve seen conflicting reports on this; Nick, do you know for certain which variant of Gorilla Glass the M9 comes with?

  3. I kind of agree with the previous comments nd would’ve liked to have seen more of the Nexus 9 aesthetics brought to the front of the M9 but I’m still very happy. I have the M8 and it’s a very capable and beautifully crafted phone so the M9 is a welcome upgrade, and looking at the competition is still very much at the top of my list.

…Will miss the duo cam though, had some great shots of my kids with it.
