HTC RE goes social with live YouTube streaming

The HTC RE is about to get more social thanks to a new app update which will allow Re users to stream video directly to YouTube. With the update, the HTC RE app will allow users to connect their YouTube account and enable live streaming with a simple push of a button form within the app. You will also need to have your phone within range of your HTC RE since the device transfers the streaming video feed to your phone and uses your WiFi or cellular connection to stream the video to YouTube.

Users will have the option to share a link of the stream with friends and family and HTC has also ensured that the streams can be public or private depending on who you want to share it with. The HTC RE app update will be made available tomorrow on Google Play, but the update for the iOS version isn’t coming until later in Q1.

While we’ve know that YouTube streaming from the HTC RE would be coming since the device was originally announced in October, we’re excited that the product team is working hard to make the HTC RE better than it was when it originally came out of the box. It’ll be interesting to see the HTC RE’s functionality evolve in 2015 and what HTC will come up with the RE 2.
