How to use the Eye Experience advanced video calling features on the HTC desire Eye and HTC One (M8)

Video calling on mobile devices has become part of our everyday lives. While there are quite a few great services that allow video calling on your phone, HTC has added Face Tracking and Screen Share to help deliver n even better experience. The new features are available on HTC phones which have been updated with the HTC Eye Experience software (currently the HTC One M8 and the HTC Desire Eye).

Face Tracking does exactly what the name implies. Start up a video call on your phone, tap the Face Tracking button the phone will track up to four different faces and split them within different panels. The feature works best of the subjects are not close to each other, but it still works if you’re standing shoulder to shoulder. The best part is that Face Tracking zooms in on each face to optimize framing.

If you’re using your phone for business or if you’re acting as tech support for family and friends, you’ll also love the HTC Eye experience Screen Share mode. During a video call, just tap the screen Share button and you’ll instantly share your smartphone’s screen with the person on the other end. If you’re on a smartphone to smartphone video call, the user on the other end will see your full screen, but we found that the screen gets cropped on the top and bottom of the video caller on the other end is using a desktop.

  1. The strength of the Desire Eye isn’t in its 13MP cameras but its unibody design and flagship-baiting specifications. The excellent screen and front-facing speakers mean this handset punches above its weight.
