Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense arriving sooner than expected

The latest version of Android called Lollipop has been at the HTC garage since the beginning of November and the team has been working hard under the hoods of the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 to deliver a fine tuned, well running machine. After only one month, HTC was able to release Android 5.0 to the Google Play models of these two phones and news is spreading that HTC could begin rolling out Lollipop to the HTC Sense versions as early as the first week of January.

HTC originally gave a 90 day promise to release the Android update, but if the recent claim holds true this will be about one month a head of schedule. Here’s a short timeline of what we have in play:

  • The official code was released on November 3rd
  • Google Play editions were updated on December 5th
  • HTC Sense versions expected January 3rd
  • End of 90 day window promised by HTC, February 1st

We guess there is a little more to this and users shouldn’t get too discouraged if your phone doesn’t see the Android update right away. Remember, HTC has to send the software to the various wireless carriers and countries for review/approval before it can be introduced to the public.

  1. Stage 2 of 4 stages and you think it is close?
My nexus7 2012 still doesn’t have it whereas My nvidia shield tablet does.

  2. I am disappointed to see they didn’t care about material design at all. It looks exactly the same
