Official: HTC Desire 612 for Verizon unveiled

After accidentally posting details of the phone on its website earlier this week, Verizon has finally pulled back the curtain to unveil the HTC Desire 612. The Verizon HTC Desire 612 is nearly the same as the original HTC Desire 610 at its core, the design of the phone has been tweaked a little, but its specs include a 4.7-inch qHD display, 1.2 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 128GB miroSD card slot, 8 megapixel main camera with 1080p video capture, front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, 2040 mAh battery and BoomSound speakers.

The HTC Desire 612 isn’t the most capable smartphone in Verizon’s lineup, but it’s definitely the most appealing device in the FREE category. If you’re willing to sign a new two-year contract, Verizon will be more than happy to talk out of the store with the HTC Desire 612 in hand without asking you for anything but your signature.

It’s doubtful that the HTC Desire 612 will be making an appearance at tomorrow’s Double Exposure event in NYC, but we’ll keep an eye out for it to see if we can get some hands-on time with the new phone.
