Leaked screenshots give us a first look at HTC’s Sense 7, Lollipop design

Google is expected to release the final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop on November 3 with the release of the Nexus 9 tablet. HTC has already announced that it will be updating the HTC One (M8) within 90 days of receiving final code from Google. That being said, Google has had an Android 5.0 preview SDK available since this summer and two new leaked images show that HTC already has a working version of Android 5.0 up and running with HTC Sense 7.

The images don’t show what the homescreen, app drawer or notifications panel look like, but the y do provide a peek at HTC’s updated design language on the Battery History and Software Information pages in the settings. The main difference you’ll notice is the color of the header and on-screen controls at the bottom. It appears HTC will be pulling through the theme color from Sense and getting rid of the dark gray that’s used throughout the Sense 6 settings menus. Other changes include the use of cards on the Battery History page and the hamburger menu icon instead of a back arrow in the top left corner.

Update: It looks like we’ve fallen for a fake! The Battery History image leak is actually Battery Widget Report (Beta) that’s available in Google Play. Hopefully we’ll have something real to look at in the next week or two.

We think the changes in the leaked images look nice and we’re excited to see what else HTC’s software team has in store for us with its Android 5.0 Lollipop update. We’re a bit surprised that the leak shows a Sense 7 label with the new software version since HTC usually waits to release major sense update with new flagship phones in the spring.

  1. I hope sense 7 has a palette detector (like dribble) and the themes derive from the color pallettes based on your wallpaper. & i knew something wasnt right when i saw the hamburger menu in settings.
