HTC One (M8) for Windows accidentally revealed on Verizon’s website

While we love new rumors, it’s always nice when a service provider or handset maker slips up and reveals things a little sooner than planned. Verizon has just published an image of a new HTC phone which looks like it’s running Windows Phone 8.1. The name of the image is HTC_M8_Windows which sounds oddly similar to the HTC One (M8) for Windows rumors which have been circulating recently.

The high-resolution image of the HTC One (M8) for Windows show off a handset which is eerily similar to the HTC One (M8). The only real difference we’ve been able to spot if the BoomSound speaker grill at the bottom of the phone which is a little lower than it is on the Android variant of the phone. The Live Tiles on the HTC One (M8) for Windows show BlinkFeed will be pre-installed on the phone, along with HTC TV and HTC Camera.

Rumor has it that Verizon is planning on launching the HTC One (M8) for Windows on August 21 – just two days after the August 19 press event HTC will be holding in New York City.

With Microsoft’s windows Phone is struggling to gain market share, many are wondering why HTC would waste its time and money developing a phone that will only appeal to a very small number of customers. But you never know – the HTC One (M8) for Windows could be the phone which actually gets people excited for Microsoft’s platform. Only time will tell.
