HTC Desire 820 teased, IFA launch imminent?

The HTC Desire family may soon have a new member. HTC has sent out invitations an event during IFA on September 4th and the company recently posted the above image to its Weibo account. The Desire name isn’t specifically mentioned, but IFA would be the perfect setting to unveil a mid-range phone that’s slightly better than the HTC Desire 816 which was first announced at Mobile World Congress back in February.

At this time, there’s no real information regarding the specs of the HTC desire 820. Some are speculating that the new phone will be using the recently-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 or 615 SoC. Both chips feature 64bit architecture with 8 cores clocked between 1.5 and 1.7GHz with an Adreno 405 GPU. Qualcomm has not announced when the chips will be available, but a leaked roadmap indicates that the chips should be available near the end of the third quarter. We don’t think anyone would complain if they could pick up a mid-range phone for under $400 with a processor that’s outperforms the Snapdragon 600 that was user in last year’s HTC One (M7).
