New HTC Desire phone headed to Sprint

The latest rumor from @evleaks claims that Sprint is on the short list of U.S. service providers which will get an HTC Desire phone – the yet-unannounced HTC Desire 510. We don’t have a clue what the spec list will include, but the naming convention implies that it will be a step below the HTC Desire 610 which was announced at Mobile World Congress nearly six month ago. Don’t expect anything more than a device equipped with a 4.3-inch qHD display, Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel camera.

HTC’s Desire 500 range has never been buzz worthy, but since the phones are typically sold off-contract for less than $300, the Sprint HTC Desire 510 will most likely be free for those purchasing the phone with a new two-year contract. We know HTC’s main focus is on the HTC One (M8) here in the U.S. market, but we do believe that getting more HTC phone on the market at different price levels will help the company gain market share and boost its bottom line.
