HTC One (M8) Android 4.4.3 update with 4.4.4 security fixes rolling out now

HTC has announced that the Android 4.4.3 update for the HTC One (M8) is currently being pushed to SIM unlocked and Developer versions of the phone. It may seem odd that HTC is just now rolling out Android 4.4.3 since the 4.4.4 update has been around for a while. Fortunately the version number really doesn’t mean anything this time around since HTC’s software engineers put in a little extra effort. Since the only real difference between Android 4.4.3 and 4.4.4  is a handful of security fixes, HTC decided to roll those into the 4.4.3 update rather than pushing out two separate updates to all variants of the HTC One (M8).

“We’re pleased to let owners of the unlocked HTC One (M8) know Android 4.4.3 is rolling out to their devices now! Due to the timing of this update and the coming release of Android “L,” we have incorporated the security fixes from Android 4.4.4 into 4.4.3 instead of releasing two separate updates. Carrier versions of HTC One (M8) around the world will receive the 4.4.3 update in the coming weeks. We hope you enjoy using the new software!”

We still have a couple of weeks to go before the Android 4.4.3 update hits carrier-branded models of the M8. We suspect the update is also being prepped for last year’s HTC One (M7) since HTC has promised two full years of software updates for its HTC One lineup.
