HTC Gallery app adds UFocus blur level adjustment and new features for all Sense 6 devices

HTC’s decision to decouple many of its core apps from Sense 6 has already paid off, but we love it every time HTC releases a new update to one of its apps which deliver new or improved functionality. The HTC Gallery app is receiving an update today via the Google play Store. Those who own an HTC phone running on Sense 6 are now given access to Pan360 (HTC’s version of PhotoSphere) and Dimension Plus (HTC’s 3D image effect which is always fun to use in Video Highlights). These two features were originally exclusive to the HTC One (M8).

Owners of the HTC One (M8) finally get an enhancement to UFocus which allows manual blur level adjustment. When applying the UFocus effect to an image, users are now presented with a sliding bar on the left side of the screen which increases or decreases the bokeh effect.

If you have now already downloaded the update to HTC Gallery, we highly recommend that you do. What update or new feature do you want to see on your HTC Sense 6 device?

  1. Awesome. Got the update. The blur level adjustment means you can correct some otherwise bad masking/edging caused when using this effect.

The 3D effects leave a bit to be desired. I really wish they were not part of automated list of FX for the video highlights. They look kinda bad most of the time. Funny – yes, but not cool.

  2. I have updated the “HTC Gallery app” on my M7 and I still don’t have the Pan360 option available. What should I do?
Edit: I saw now that Pan360 is only a viewer on M7, you cannot take PhotoSpeheres using it 🙁
