Rumor: Google partnering with HTC to develop the Nexus 8

Back in February, there were a few stories floating around the internet which claimed HTC would be stepping back into the tablet space with a “high-end” device which would sell under Google’s coveted Nexus brand. According to “supply chain sources” in China, Google will be partnering with HTC to bring an 8-inch Nexus tablet to market in the third quarter of this year.

The HTC Nexus 8 specifications are not given, but it’s easy to image that the device will be better spec’d than the 2013 Nexus 7. While the details of HTC and Google partnering on a Nexus tablet with a Q3 launch match what we’ve previously heard, the size 8-inch size is slightly smaller than the 10-inch device which was referenced back in February. None of the rumors have indicated that HTC and Google are partnering on two separate tablets, but the Nexus 10 is more than a year overdue for an update.

It’s been three years since the release of the HTC Flyer, so we’re excited to see what new innovations HTC has in store for the tablet market.
